Choosing a massage therapist or any other professional to work with your dog can feel like a minefield. There are lots of people offering services, and the animal industry is largely unregulated. It is currently very much up to owners/guardians to research and ensure their chosen professionals are actually qualified.
The key points to check are:
- Qualifications
- Professional bodies
- Insurance
Any professional should be happy to answer questions and provide evidence of their qualifications, memberships of any professional organisations, and their insurance.
My Qualifications
As a Canine Merishia Massage practitioner, I studied the Level 4 Canine Merishia Massage Practitioner Diploma through Rose Holistic Therapies and Training. The course is accredited by UK Rural Skills and was written to meet Ofqual standards for level 4.
The course included both online study and also tutor supervised practical days and assessment, as well as case studies over the course of almost a year.

I am committed to further study in massage therapy and the related areas of canine wellness and behaviour.
So far I have also completed the following CPD courses:
- Interoceptive Applications for Facilitating Neurosomatic Rebalancing – Rose Holistic Therapies & Training August 2026
- Award in Understanding & Utilising Photobiomodulation with LED Devices for Animal Practitioners – Danetre Health Products – Photizo September 2026
Professional Memberships
I am a member of:
Association of Merishia Therapists (AMT)
International Association of Animal Therapists (IAAT)
Both of these organisations uphold standards of best practice, require annual CPD study hours, and that up to date insurance be held.
Insurance
I am insured by Balens.
